Fall

Summer hues of fiery orange disappear in a breath-
Leaving a steadily creeping chill in the air, in its stead.
Fields overflowing with the golden harvest-
Transform into the farmer's gratified smile..
Across the picturesque landscape-
An array of oaks and maples greet you on every side.
The falling dry leaves, carpeting the ground,
Penetrate the veil of quietude..
Making the only perceptible sound.
As benign winds whisper of seasons gone by..
I realize...that fall has arrived, on the sly.

Great!!

I too once had written a song for Autumn. I lost it in a hard disk crash.

I guess I'll write a new one, thought it might not be as refined as yours... But, Thanks for the inspiration. :)

poets embrace the spring and the fresh bloom symbolising new life

but you've described so beautifully the charm of autumn...

the ground being laid and adorned with fallen rusty golden brown maple leaves....makes a pretty sight indeed

each season has a beauty to cherish

Ahh.. the colours of the fall!! Love the various hues of ochre. Sadly you don't get to see it in our country.

Reminded me of an epic song, "A change of Seasons".
Times change, and so must we, with them. The chill of November is now here after the fall.
Brilliant poem, Sammy. :)

I never liked fall.....but now I think it symbolises leaving behind the past like the trees shed their orange leaves and getting ready to start a new inning in life. Nice poem :)
